Yesterday, Spanish authorities had police move in to suppress an independence movement in Catalonia, as thousands defy orders to reject the referendum. The reason I condemn these actions of government suppression is that people should be able to band together to secure their future in the manner they choose as best for their lives.
Secession should be allowed when the people of a region demand it. When government sends in agents of the state to prevent an act like voting, that government is tyrannical in nature.
I stand in solidarity with the Catalan people and condemn the violence against people’s free will.
